The Campaign for Affordable Housing:
- Serves as a resource center and clearinghouse for local and regional organizations that want to make the dream of affordable housing a reality for all Americans.
- Supports locally sponsored efforts to tell housing supporters how to make their voices heard in land use approvals and legislative debates.
- Builds capacity of regional and local organizations to conduct public education programs and other grassroots campaigns.
- Provides materials and advice for sponsors seeking project approvals, local government officials deliberating housing decisions and housing organizations undertaking public education campaigns.

Why We Are Doing It
Negative stereotypes surrounding affordable housing have persisted for years and have never been countered forcefully or consistently. Polls show a majority of Americans support affordable housing programs, but they have not made their voices heard. Opposition to affordable housing makes it difficult and costly to complete projects and undermines efforts to win political support for funding and zoning approvals. Affordable housing is a major concern to Americans across the nation, but few citizens take action.
