JENNIFER POSTEN
Manager, Office of Disaster Preparedness and Response
Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston
Jennifer Posten has traveled locally and nationally presenting invaluable training and information to faith-based groups interested in disaster preparation and recovery. She has managed the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Response (ODPR) at Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston since early 2005. She also serves as an Officer of the Texas Gulf Coast Regional Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (TGCR VOAD). The VOAD’s meetings focus on long-term recovery and plans for the upcoming hurricane season. Ms. Posten actively participates in the City of Houston Special Needs Committee that focuses on the registration of Houston’s special needs populations in the event of a major disaster. She also works with the Harris County Citizens Corps Council to create and evaluate response plans at the County level. In addition, she is liaison to both Harris County Homeland Security & Emergency Management and City of Houston Office of Emergency Management. Ms. Posten has successfully completed the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and American Red Cross Disaster certifications. She has completed FEMA training curricula for the National Incident Management Systems, and the National Response Plan training. Ms. Posten is a native Texan. She has lived in Houston since earning her BA in Marketing from Southern Methodist University.
