TIM KIDWELL
Senior Director, Emergency Services
American Red Cross, Houston Area Chapter
Tim Kidwell is Senior Director, Emergency Services for the Greater Houston Area Chapter of the American Red Cross. Tim joined the Greater Houston Area Chapter on May 15, 2001 or 3 weeks before Tropical Storm Allison. He is responsible for ensuring that all Red Cross Emergency Services are provided clients within the 15 county chapter area of responsibility. Emergency Services can be providing for immediate needs such as food, clothing and shelter after a disaster or Emergency Communications with a member of the Armed Forces stationed anywhere in the world. . He is also responsible for ensuring that there are adequate numbers of trained volunteers are available to carry out these tasks.
Tim was born in Galveston, Texas and grew up in La Marque, Texas. He is a graduate of La Marque High School class of 1968. Tim received his undergraduate degree in Government from Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas in 1973. He entered the Air Force after graduation and served as a navigator and instructor navigator on the KC-135 tanker. During his 20 year Air Force career he served as a Flight Commander, Chief of Standardization and Evaluation, Program Officer and Contingency Wartime Plans Officer. He completed a Master of Arts degree in Education in 1985 and retired from the Air Force in 1994 while stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. Prior to assuming his present position, he served as a disaster volunteer, disaster action team member and disaster services instructor in the South Bay Area Branch Office, Clear Lake Area.
