BOBBIE CHRISTENSEN

Bobbie Christensen serves as Director of Communication Strategies for the Campaign for Affordable Housing. Ms. Christensen brings more than 23 years of public relations and public affairs experience—including nine in the housing industry—to the Campaign
From 1997 to 2006, Ms. Christensen was Director of Communication for the San Diego Housing Commission, one of the largest housing agencies in the U.S. It was there that she learned about stereotypes regarding affordable housing and the individuals it serves.
While with the agency, Ms. Christensen was honored with 17 awards from organizations that represent public relations/communications practitioners as well as from the San Diego County Apartment Association and the National Association for Housing and Redevelopment Officials.
Prior to her position with the Commission, Ms. Christensen was Director for Public Affairs of a Boson-area hospital, where she became a strong advocate of anti-domestic violence programs and healthcare initiatives for those without insurance.
Ms. Christensen has served as a board member for the National Conflict Resolution Center, the San Diego Public Relations Society of America, and the Balboa Park House of Hospitality, among others. She was/is also communications advisor to numerous housing and health-related committees.
A native of Pennsylvania, with many years also spent in Massachusetts, Ms. Christensen graduated summa cum laude from Widener University in Pennsylvania. She has earned graduate credits in history and art.
Ms. Christensen and her husband have lived in La Jolla, California, since 1997.
