Beverly Barnes is executive director of Homes for Working Families. She is a veteran communications strategist with more than 20 years of experience in public affairs, media relations, and management.

Most recently, Beverly served as senior vice president of communications for the Fannie Mae Foundation, where she reshaped the communications policy and practice to better leverage the foundation's grants, programs, and policy work in support of affordable homes.

Beverly began her career as a reporter for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. In the years since, she has served in the public sector as deputy press secretary to President Clinton and senior advisor to his chief of staff Erskine Bowles, and as chief of staff for public affairs at the U.S. Department of Labor. Beverly's private-sector experience includes communications and management for IBM, GMMB, a public affairs and advertising agency, and Podesta Mattoon, a public affairs and lobbying firm.

Beverly received her B.A. in Political Science from Yale University.
